JOB DESCRIPTION
VERITAS NetBackup Specialist to lead and be the Subject Matter Expert. • Core NBU Environment: NBU 6.0MP6 w/ VCS 4.x on Solaris (clustered v440’s & T2k Media servers)
o Master crashes every couple of months (socket issue, case # 281-771-445 – attributed to VCS)
• Rest of NBU Environment: Linux, Windows, some Solaris
Work Tasks:
• Upgrades to 6.5.3.1
• Certification of 6.5.4 in lab
• Upgrades to 6.5.4
• Assist with advanced NBU troubleshooting (approximately 30 issues/day out of 7,000 clients)
• Help the packaging teams to get the new versions packaged for distribution (no scripting)
• VTL (EMC) & IBM LTO3
• Vault (Ejects), they run their own scripts for duplications
• NO BMR, NOM or VBR in environment
• Eventually going from tape to dedupe (most likely D.D., so OST plugin helpful)
